Condom plant to create jobs in Tongaat

African land really lack condom production. Africa largest condom manufacturing company, RRT Medcon, officially launched its R20-million condom factory in Tongaat, north of Durban.

The condom factory, which operates under the name Kohrs Medical Supplies and boasts a massive production capacity of 135 million condoms annually, has not only created employment opportunities for its staff of around 120, but is also set on using its position to bring about positive awareness of the practice of safe sex in Africa.

Managing director Vera Korhs says that even after the launch, the factory plans on hosting a number of workshops and tours, welcoming visits from schools and the general public. “We are not promoting sex – we’re just saying that it should be done in a more responsible form,” she said. condom factory tours will tell young students how to protect themselves better.
